三年前父母来探亲，每天只能守着城市电视，老爸听惯了字正腔圆的普通话新闻，不喜欢台湾和香港的电视节目，来了一个月就嚷嚷要回去。如果能多些国内的电视频道，家里有老人的可以多些渠道了解国内的现状，我也能少些头疼，呵呵。

我好几个朋友的父母都因耐不住寂寞来了又回。问过他们，多半是在这里的精神生活太缺乏。（我也曾看了近一年的城市电视，经常忍着吐看一些在国内从不看的片子。。。）

First of all, I just want to show my good attitude of supporting LZ by giving a Ding to this post.

Secondly, I want to introduce the following website to all of you. www.pplive.com
It has about hundreds of chinese channels including CCTV-1...to CCTV9, and lots of movie channels.
It will guarantee your senior citizens at home won't get bored ever. The good thing about it is, most of the channels are live, and they are totally free.

Back to LZ's topic, I am more concerned about how good of business cases the provider will offer to customers, after the stations are granted to broadcast commercially in canada. Although, it does not mean I won't have 实际行动支持 it to be granted.

Valid concerns. Just like when VoIP technology first introduced to market, tons of service providers offer free PC to phone service over the internet. Back to Yr 1998, my long distance call bill was zero.

The strength or difference about pplive.com is that it uses Peer to Peer networking technology, rather than the traditional Server and client model. In theory, everybody's PC is a server in P2P network, therefore, the more customers hook up on the network, the faster downloading speed everybody is going to get. In other words, each customer is contributing to the whole system to some extend (so, be comfortable of enjoying free of charge).
