my pc 's cpu might be damaged by over heating

cpu fan /or power supply was making big noise for 2 months. i ignored it. cuz the noise will go away after 2 mins after starting up the machiene.

but yesterday my machine shut itself down without warning, and cound't load windows. so i let it cool for whole night, this morning it can start, but it gives a warning before loading windows"you cpu has been changed , please modify the setting and save before quitting" .that;'s when i got alerted so i shut if off and take it immediately to the computer store ask to change the power supply.

cost 35 dollars. and 15 dollars for the dedusting.除尘。 三年没有开过箱子，灰尘很后，还有蜘蛛网。cpu fan was covered by big thick dust.

so i spent 15 dollars for them to use the air compressor to clean it.

i thought it should be ok.

but after i got home, it 's still noisy. i guess it's the cpu fan.

windows loaded. but 10 minutes later, after i browsed a few websites, it shut it self down again. since then, i can't even start my machine, it gives a ridiculous warning:"your windows system file might be lost or damaged, please insert the system disk", whihc i don't have ;((

A couple of things you can try:

1. If you can see your CPU fan spinning, try another power supply or borrow one from your friend to see if the problem was caused by a failing power supply.

2. Do a scandisk to see if it was caused by a failing hard disk.

3. Start Windows in Safe Mode by press F8 when you see "Windows is loading..." something like that when you start your system. Leave it on for several hours to see if it also gets shutdown.

There are more things you can try, but these 3 first. Good luck.

cpu一般是不容易坏的
你的问题，估计是，系统散热不好特别是cpu。散热不好，当然噪音大而且也影响windows的正常运行。
除尘当然有一定作用，不过，还是换一个比较好的cpu的heat sind+fan（20－50元）有那么种散 效果好但又噪音小的cpu风扇。
也可以检查一下是不是机箱电源的问题，如果换了cpu风扇后依然noise大，可以考虑换一个power supply. 你的是三年前的机器，所需要电源不超过350w，所以价格也不会贵到哪里去。


还有一个问题，是你的windows系统老出问题，估计与内存和硬盘有关。
先检查硬盘有没有坏道，没有的话，重新格式化安装新操作系统。
如果硬盘没问题，那么就检查内存条，先把内存与主板连接处清一下尘，安装紧了。然后到网上找一个内存检测小软件，测试一下。

如果以上都不是，最后再看一看显卡，显卡也有散热问题和噪音问题（如果你用的是集成显卡就不用理会显卡问题了）

如果开机没有任何声音和显示，估计是电源或主版问题了。

so maybe 主板/cpu 解除问题。

经常插拔CPU可能会引起问题，不知你是否用了专用工具并按安全步骤操作了？

可能是提示你改变了硬件（或设置）之后，要求你修改bios的设置并保存。

建议你先查cpu，再查bios（如果不能自检就没法查了）。

偶不是专业人士，说的不一定对，仅供参考。

好奇的问一下，你经常插拔cpu干什么？

we operated it ok. i dnt' think i damaged cpu. if anyting, just motherboard's connection with cpu, or motherboard itself. but still not sure.
should i just buy a similar motherboard and cpu and try on?

清理灰尘不需要拔下cpu，也不需要卸下散热器和风扇。只要用毛刷和小吸尘器就可以清理的很干净了。拆卸cpu, 如果没有专用工具且经验不多时，有时会导致问题（连接，接触）。此外，cpu与散热器接触处应该加少许白色导热胶以保证有足够接触面积导热，否则会导致cpu散热不好，cpu太热会自保死机，散热扇也会一直高速旋转增加噪音。

计算机修理，代换法是非常有效的检修方法。可以去futureshop等零售店看看是否有合适配件，容易退货。（计算机配件店一般要收re-stocking fee).

cpu cooler and cpu 之间要有导热层？天，我看见上面很脏，就用纸巾擦干净了。是很黑的极细粉末状灰尘
。但是一切毛病在我拆卸之前就出现了。修理店用空气压缩机狂吸了尘，还是没用。

既然你的PC已经三年多了，何不换台新机器？ 我的意思是只换主板,CPU,内存，其它硬盘，显卡，电源，机箱，光驱还可以正常使用。
你可以到NCIX.COM OR TIGERDIRECT.CA,PCCYBER.COM发现不少这种套装叫作Barebone PC(主板,CPU,内存)在出售,经常可以用100-200元买到不错的东西。
