The new gorvernment promised to give all families $1200/year in Child Care for each child under six, starting in 2006.

是的。

听说钱还是那个钱，只是改变了方式使用。这样把钱直接发到有小孩的家庭，父母可以选择送孩子到day care或者在家自己照顾，这样更直接到位和公平。

不知道这是不是？

Like pgp said, the government will still give each baby $1200/year, but the 4 billion funding cut will keep the child care system as it is: high cost (~$1000 for infants) and limited child care spaces (~300 daycare spaces for infants in Ottawa area). If you are one of the moms who decide to send your baby to daycares, you should speak out.

Don't be silly! It is not tax-free grant.
It will be counted as income ,so you'll not get the full $1200,
but government can save much money....

可是如果只是给daycare受益人更少，连钱都拿不到的，政府付出多少是一方面，能得到利益的是大多数就是好的。

原闻其详。

这1200是taxble的，我觉得更体现了现政府的务实精神。对低收入家庭，相对交回取的少，无疑是雪中送炭；对高收入家庭，本就是锦上添花，再怎末交税，也能落下一半，总比啥也没有强吧。

另外，我倒很想知道取消了childcare promises，对蒙特索立，krp family centre 这类私立幼儿园到底会有什莫影响？
