My baby started to reject formula milk since 2 months old, so that i provide fully breast feeding for him until now he is 6 months old.

So far, he didnt reject any type of porridge i cook including the cereal added milk, but he still reject to drink formula milk.

Any suggestion of best way for me to change my feeding to formula milk before 1 yr old? Shall I get a training cup for him to drink because i guess he may not like to use milk bottle? actually i hope he can use bottle instead of cup.

Hi hi,

I went thru the same problem...almost! When my baby was 2 month old, she was also rejecting bottle and formula -- completely. I was worried about weanning at that time already since I had so much difficulties breasfeeding, so I wanted to train her to eat from a bottle at least.

In the beginning, I'd pump my milk out and feed her from a bottle once a day, she didn't like it at first, but because she can still smell my milk, eventually she takes it; then I gradually increase the bottle feed to twice a day or three times a day...after she's used to that, I feed her with formula milk once a day, again, it takes a couple of days until she really drinks it...but since then she's used to eat whatever I feed her in the bottle, sometimes I put soup in the bottle too since it's very messy to feed her from a spoon...

Are you thinking of weanning now?

Maybe your son doesn't like the nipple,or you can use spoon to feed him,but you have to spend much time on him. When your son using a cup, must becarful on choking.

Feeding him by spoon is not the right way I way. I try to get a training cup which can avoid choking one and see how. I saw some on the advertisement, that is for training 6 months old baby to change to use cup from bottle.

Qboy, shall I think to change other type of formula milk? any formula milk taste by breast milk? :P

I have started weanning since one month ago and he is taking porridge everyday. Honestly he has NEVER rejected anything feed by spoon, including cereal at the beginning until diffirent type of porridge nowsaday, he finished all whatever I prepare for him, somemore rush me to feed him faster, do you believe that?

Victoria, I have no problem in breast feeding :P, only feel to stop it before 1 yr old. Ok, I will try the way which you are using as feeding him breast milk by bottle.

Actually I have started to feed him water by bottle(because he rejected to drink since born :P)everyday since he likes to take thing to put in his mouth, so he takes the bottle himself, not really like to drink much, but at least he will spend sometime to drink a bit everytime, but for the milk, he rejected immediately after he suck twice and doesnt allow the bottle go in his mouth again.

Thanks.

Dinosean,

I'm curious, the congee you cook for your son, do you put salt in it? Yesterday I cooked Ginko soup for her, I forgot and put a bit salt, but she loved it more than usual...although my family visitor don't recommend that...

Hi Victoria,

Sorry that I didnt put any salt :P it's not recommended because baby's not developed well, shouldnt let him suffer, should be original taste of food. If my son reject to eat then I may consider to put a bit like 1/8 of small spoon, but so far my son never reject.

Actually should not be a big problem, my mum also put a bit salt or soy sauce on our plain porridge when we was baby :)

Maybe u can do it but not everyday. Or do it after 1 yr old which is few months later only. :)

Have a nice day with your motherhood. :)

I will not put any salt and sugar for my son before 1 yr old too..:)
