Trends to look forward to, from this year’s Oscars red carpet.
As it happens every year, millions around the globe tuned in to watch the 78th Annual Academy Awards®. Not only were viewers wondering, who will win, most were asking, what will they be wearing?
The Oscars are the most watched fashion event of the year. Every celebrity hitting the red carpet knows when they hit a home run; they are bound to start a trend. Here are some of this years Oscar’s fashion hits that every fashionista can watch for over the coming months.
After watching Sunday’s Academy Awards there is no doubt that this spring fashion trends are going towards less saturated, sophisticated shades. Despite an abundance of rainbow colors, fashion trendsetters will already have noticed a new trend moving towards much softer tones.
Nude colored fabrics with a subtle shimmer of gold, as seen on Jennifer Garner and Uma Thurman, will be the biggest trend to watch for. Jessica Alba, who also shimmered in a bronze Versace gown, was another example of the turn towards more natural tones. Shades of white and beige, as seen on Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon, are also apart of the trend to wear fashions with glimmer, radiance and luminosity, all key components for springs most fashionable looks.
While metallic colors have been fighting for their place in the fashion world for seasons, it seems they may have finally found there place. The Oscar red carpet was dominated with shimmering metallic colored accessories ― bags in particular. Expect a moderate amount of rich metallic accessories to shimmer through summer and carry on into fall.
Dark tones, especially shades of turquoise and green, as seen on Salma Hayek and Jennifer Lopez, are beginning to emerge this season creating an exciting and dramatic look next to the creamy vanilla and earth tones. While these strong colors may not dominate the spring and summer, they will definitely be appearing in some of next seasons collections.
And finally, while some may argue that black truly never went away one thing is certain black is back. Its versatility is always crowd pleaser on Oscar’s big night. Actresses such as Jennifer Aniston, Hilary Swank and Felicity Huffman all opted for a more classic yet always fashionable look.
