关于加拿大的volunteer,请有经验的前辈指教[问题]

还有1年就毕业了，想在暑假的时候找个专业对口的volunteer做做，积累些工作经验，以后申请工作也有好处。
本人是留学生，是读electrical engineering 的，不知道能不能做volunteer，还有就是哪些地方能申请volunteer？
恳请有经验的前辈指点一下，感谢万分～！！！

find a prof, and volunteer for a project

This is the most efective way. I tried last summer and it turned out a very good experience. Besides, afterwards Prof usually is willing to give you reference. It is hard to find one related to your study in communities.

make sure it works, I did volunteer for a few of them, one of them didn't work out, now we see each other as strangers.

or you can volunteer for a project you REALLY LIKE, and you will get that project, and will get ref, and will get extra care (marks)
