beta usually means the "test" or "incomplete(as in bug unfixed)" version before release, ignore all beta ones.
that 1/2 is probably just the cd number? i dunno what 1/2 is...
but the prerequisites CD is required to install Visual Studio .NET 2003 Professional, first thing you install are the prerequisites which is why it is called prerequisites (stuff u need before actual installation of visual studio.net)

Edit:
Something I just noticed, you should have I think 3 CDs for visual studio.net 2003 professional if I didn't remember wrong. One of them has prerequisites already.

Recommendations:
Just download the plain ones state like "visual studio .NET 2003 professional". Usually they are enough to install.
PS. Visual Studio .NET 2003 and all other Visual Studio related products will ask to have the MSDN library installed (unsure if name is correct), that is useless, it can be found online in official sites, but i doubt you ever gonna use them. So ignoring that step is fine.

so which version should I use? .NET pro or 2005pro or 6pro?

If you just want to learn C++ or basic Windows programming, VC6 + SP5 is good enough and very fast; otherwise get Visual Studio.NET 2005. Visual Studio.NET 2005 has following versions: Express, Personal, Professional and Team. Express is free and targetting beginners, Team is the highest version. If you can get VS.NET 2005, forget about .NET 2003.

microsoft visual studio .NET 2003 pro/enterprise 是最新的
microsoft visual studio 2005 professional是最新的

最近的应该还没变，不过没查。
就用：
Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 Professional
Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Professional吧

没什么太大的区别，能用就行，用熟了再考虑版本更新的问题。
