Bell Canada is introducing 10-digit local dialing for the Ottawa and Gatineau regions of eastern Ontario. This means all local calls will now require the area code (613 or 819) and the seven-digit phone number. Ten-digit dialing for local calls will be required starting in October 2006. However, the new dialing system is already in place, and users are advised to start using 10-digit dialing immediately.
The Carleton community is advised to prepare for the changes to the dialing system by adding the 613 and 819 area codes to the following equipment programs:
--Speed dial lists
--Phone functions and options (e.g., call forwarding)
--Fax machines and modems
--Cell phones and other wireless devices
