There's a few in the area, depending on what part of Kanata you are talking about, I'll just name a couple that I am more familiar with, perhaps someone else can fill in the rest:

- The Centrum plaza: the biggest in the area, at the corner of Terry Fox and Hwy 417, it's an open air plaza with big stores such as Loblaws, Walmart, Future Shop, Chapters, Home Outfitter, Super pet, AMC24... very much like the one in Barrhaven
- The surrounding of Centrum is also occupied by stand-alone retailers such as Costco, Home Depot, C-Tire, Staples
- Hazeldean Mall: An indoor mall at the cornet of Eaglesson and Hazeldean Rd, with stores like Zellers, Independent grocery store, plus a dozen other smaller occupants, http://www.hazeldeanmall.com/

I heard something going on on the west size of walmart. I am not sure what they are building, but there is a new church now. Hockey center side is building something either 25 or 250 townhome/condo. Currently put on hold due to enviroment issues to Carp River. Soon will be cleared, I guess.

I don't know why investors are putting more money into this area. It seems so far, good shops are getting shoppers.
