The World Harmony run is an international torch relay-run that promotes global harmony through the dynamic medium of sport. Founded in 1987 by humanitarian Sri Chinmoy, this biennial event has blossomed into one of the world greatest initiatives for cultivating world unity and brotherhood. On every continent, the World Harmony Run has bridged barriers and helped to foster oneness among people of all cultures and beliefs. Canada is one of 70 nations simultaneously participating in this 40,000 km inspirational event that invites not only athletes but people of all ages and walks of life to participate in the passing of a symbolic torch from hand to hand across Canada and throughout the world. When Canadian World Harmony Run team arrives in Ottawa, they will be welcomed by a national ceremony on the steps of Parliament Hill.
