本月底暴风雪降临 专家吁更换雪胎

虽然有气象学家预言今年将是暖冬天气，但近日比往年更早飘扬的雪花，令大家不免担心寒冬依旧。专家提醒驾车者，面对寒冷的冬季，恐怕还是要认真考虑一下雪胎问题。

今年到目前为止，几乎各个加拿大省份都已经遭遇下雪天气。冬天已经来临，各地气温也普遍降至低于同期正常水准。无法预测的酷寒，可能令道路状况变得异常恶劣，更可能令经验丰富的驾车人措手不及。

专家认为，雪胎可以在结冰、下雪、雪泥的道路情况下，提供更好的安全保障，避免汽车失控。如果冬日天气比较温和，那么四季胎可能还比较有效。但一旦遭遇特别寒冷的天气，此类四季胎可能就不完全适合了。

据报，本月底加拿大可能再度遭遇旧时的严冬天气，所以专家建议，驾车者最好考虑更换冬季雪胎。另外，据气象预测，加拿大从东岸到西岸，将全面遭遇暴风雪袭击，降雪量更可达到30公分。圣诞节前后的一周，亦还会有降雪量最多达30公分的大雪。

和前些年一样，许多加拿大人总是要等到下雪才想起换雪胎。近日的一项民调显示，超过四成的加拿大驾车人，考虑为自己驾驶的轿车、轻型卡车、厢型车和多功能休旅车，调换雪胎。

大概因为魁北克市常降大雪，有 87％ 的当地驾车者考虑换雪胎。而令人惊讶的是，降雪量极大、冬日温度常常在零下的温尼辟和艾蒙顿两市，却分别只有 27％ 和 37％ 的居民，考虑换雪胎。不过，似乎没有严寒天气的温哥华，却有36％的居民考虑换雪胎。

I asked several of my colleagues (one was from a tire manufacturing company, the other was working with Toyota Canada) if i should change to snow tires for my 2000 Corolla.

They said there is no need. Their reasoning is that Corolla is front-wheel drive car and its weight is mainly on the front, so changing tires is just waste of money. They said what i should do is to rotate the rear wheels to the front. That's it!

I don't know what's wrong with your colleagues. Changing snow tires is a good investment. Front-wheel drive doesn't help you stopping the car. It does help a little bit starting or acclerating your car but snow tires will you you more traction. Again skids on braking is responsible for most car accidents. Your buddy's logic is like wearing winter boots on snow is a waste of money because all your body weight is on you feet.

i 100 percent agree with zzz.
front wheel drive has nothing to do with car stopping
for sure,rotate the rear wheels to the front,it helps, but compare to winter tire, i think you better choose winter tire.
