HELP: Is this backfocus?

Just tested my new 1740L and compared with 18-55 kit lens. Both of them on Rebel XT.

It seems that there is backfocus problem either on lens or camera. Please help me to identify it. Is it in the tolarable range of focus problem?

Do you think the backfocus problem is in camera or lens?

The pictures from both L and Kit lens seem to have backfocus.

Is this in typical tolerable level?
