Earlier this year we heard that an immigration regulation that would
allow
international students to work off campus would soon be passed. We
optimistically expected this ruling to be passed within the year or at
best
early next year, however, we have come to learn that this regulation
requires much more time and work than previously anticipated. The
regulation continues to be studied, worked on and discussed ....
don't
lose hope it remains 'close to the heart' of all concerned.
When we consider that "More than 130,000 students come to study in
Canada
every year."

significant impact this regulation will have in terms of the labour
market,
the processing of Work Permits and the establishment of an effective
and
efficient method of ensuring a successful implementation of the policy.
The proposed policy continues to be researched and analysed. We remain
optimistic and look forward to the continued development of this
regulation .... our office will keep you informed.
