If the value is less than $20, you pay nothing. If it is sent to you as GIFT, you get $60 duty free (for one item only). For the portion of above $60, you have to pay tax.
Custom duty is not high usually, it varies from 0-6%. However, you may have to pay broker fee ($5-%50, depends on which carrier), and GST/PST.
