It's been years since I shopped at Produce Depot on Carling, widely known as "big apple" to the Chinese community here. I was there again a week ago, and that's when the nightmare started.

I have reasons to believe one of the staff there got hold of information of my debit card and cloned my card for unauthorized withdrawls to the daily limit on both Friday and Saturday........until the total transaction has exceeded the daily max and got frozen by the bank.

So be aware, next time you shop at the Produce Depot, cover the keypad when you punch in the pin number. Better yet, use cash instead of Debit. (I have to get used to it. I always have a hard time carrying cash around.)

Now the bank has been informed, I believe eventually I will be reimbursed for the loss. But it's still pain to mess up with your bank account when you have bills lined up to pay. Until this moment, I never realize how vulnerable we are, and things like fraud can happen to anyone. There can never be too much precaution.

Thought I just post a little reminder here, hopefully you won't fall victim of the fraud next time.

Why don't you use credit card?

No matter where you use your debit card, even withdraw cash from bank's ABM machine which has a panel shield on, pls do cover the keypad when you punch in the pin number.
Pls do check your bank account balance regularly even everything seems perfect. Banks only garantee to investigate abnormal transactions within certain statement cycles. Many debit careds were been compromised and banks have to eat those money in most cases.
