Is emmission pass report for 2001 year car resale

I am selling a 2001 car. when i was going to Canadian Tire for safety certificate. they told me that the buyer can't register the car without vehicle vehicle emmission pass report. is that true? i checked website of transportation Ontario. the website says 2001 car is exemption. does anyone know about this? thanks.

when you sell a car. it must be safety certificated and emmission checked. if you drive it ( already registed). no need to do e check to renew the licence.
