市场部(MARKET OR SALES,国内外企的大部分属于这类部门).由于我们的英语太差,所以也就不太可能应聘这类职位.
不过,也没必要太沮丧.通信类工作的门槛比较高,你有行业背景,找工作是一个很大的优势.另外,中国人在这里降格使用的情况比比皆是,我有一个朋友,在NORTEL中国公司已经是7级职位了,以前还经常来CANADA开会,现在在NORTEL 做VERIFICATION,来这里最好有这个心理准备.</HTML>

I am still looking for job, I have been here for about 2 more months. The situation is getting worse and worse. I am trying to go to usa to find job. Canada is not good place for us. </HTML>

If you have good job and life in China, just do what you did

I think it is the worst time here in Ottawa. I have heard of lots of laid off message in Nortel. Although our product was marketed very well that we actuallt need people badly, 10% of people were still asked to leave. This week, I got farewell Email everyday. I think it is crazy. Because it even influences our product delievery and support to the customers.
I think it is not good time for new friends at China to move here at this moment. I even want to go back. If you still have a good job and life in China, just do what you did.

Toronto is the best choice for carrier job

If you have lots of experiences at Telecom carrier. Toronto is the best choice. I used to work in this kind of companies for a while. You will be lucky if you could be enrolled into CLEC. Please don't go to ILEC where lots of people were sopposed to be laid off.
Because there are quite a lot of experienced people were laid off from big telecom manufacturer. These laid off people will be the first choice for these CLECs to select. The CLEC I worked before hired a lot of people retired or moved out from Nortel. The job in CLEC will be dealing with most latest technology. And the work is relatively stable if you could go through first 6 months. If you want to be hired by this kind of companies, you should have plenty of communications(Not the meaning of telecommunications here) skills. I used to deal with quite a lot of trouble and negociation in this kind of company.
