这样做容易DAMAGE变速箱的governor, when you are at high speed.

I agree with you at switching gear (N/D) at high speed could make damage.
But qiaoqiaolei only switches the gear when engine is idle.
I believe it should be OK but I'd like to listen to your opnion as well.
So could you tell us if it's safe to flip gear in that case?

I personally damaged my 94 nissan by putting the gear at "N" whenever I thought I have to stop. After a couple of months, I could not switch the gear to higher ones. It ended up I have to change the gear governor which costs me about 700 bulks.
We also fixed one customer's car in a similar situation.
What I guess is that when your car runs at for example 100km/h and you suddenly switch the gear from “D” to “N”. The regulator of governor may not be designed to work in that way. It may work for some time, but the damage maybe occur gradually. good luck.

When the car stops I don't see any problem by putting the gear in "N". But it will be safter if you can put the gear in "P". Unless you always will not forget to use your parking brake or by braking your car by foot. If you have to idle your car for a while why don't you just turn off the engine? Waiting for a traffic light, you don't need to change the shift to "N". How long does it take for a traffic lights, one minute or two?

Thanks for answering the question.
In fact, I have one more related question as well.
When we driving on a steep terrain, we can not slow down the vehicle by putting the break for a long period of time, otherwise the pad and disc may be burned out. In this particular case, we have to switch to lower gear (D/3/2/1) to slow down the vehicle.
I'm just wondering if it's the same situation as described before (D/N) that you want to prevent or if it's perfectly safe?
