Depending on the nature of the part time job. If the part time job is a professional job. Keep it at all costs. It almost means the life and death of your professional career.

experience and school doesnt matter

its not what you know, its who you know...

without knowing the managers/directors you will never get a good job in the government

I am in UT now. Want to say a little words about it. I heared a lot from undergraduates, especially in computer science and engineering. The coursework is extremely overloaded, not all students can survive, compared with other universities (not waterloo ^-^, same thing there). If you want to find a good coop, then go to waterloo. If you want to pursue the higher degree, stay at OU and try to get a very good GPA (you may easily get the scholarship from the government, then come to UT is not that hard). Basically, UT is good for gruaduates, not for undergraduates. you may feel frastrucated sometimes if you are in UT. Working parttime is impossible during studying in UT.

Besides, UT intends to get outstanding students from other universities, not from UT itself. pple is hard to get a very high GPA in UT.
