手上一些美元,但是又不用着急都换成加元。所以最好存在一个利率高点的地方,存在哪里好呢?

open an ING account, and make a USD investment saving account. 3.5%

sure it would be ok

but you need to go to toronto to open the account :)

icicbank is better than ing. lots of my friends use it.

Is icicibank like pcfinancial which is a bank without branches?

I have some questions about open a new US saving account. It shows that I need to mail a personal check to Toronto, but even though I have a US account in another financial institution, I don't have US personal check, can I just use my personal check?

because all the account opened in Canada must be accompanied by photo id, and its governement law.

If you opening an account with ING ( for example ), since they are not physically see your id. thats why they need an existing US account by a local bank. Since if you open one in a local bank, ING will assume the local bank is already check all the id and things. So, ING can omit this step.

Thats why ING is requesting a personal check from your personal US account to open the connection.

So I can use my personal check for US dollars (I assume it is used for Canadian dollars and always do so)?

CAN and US account has their own chq.

If you want deposit to your ING US account, then you must use a US account chq.
Same thing for CAD.

Example, if you open a US account, and send a CAD$ chq to them. it won't work

You need a USD checking account. You can open one in any major bank and the checks will have a "US Dollar" line printed on them. ING will link their account to the USD checking account when you make deposit or withdrawal.

好多银行有Term account ,假如你有段时间不用,可以考虑它.我前半个月刚在CIBC开了一年的Term Account,年利率为4.65%.三个月,半年的稍低一些.可以直接到银行让推荐一下.

I have no idea about term account. Is it high risk?

term account is like you locked the money for a period of time an cannot touch it.

US Term deposit is not CDIC insured, means if the bank *ever* shutdown. you lose the money.
