There's this builder called Mattamy developing a big community on Maple Grove Rd. I've heard they are the biggest builder in Ontario, if not in Canada.

Personally I am not too crazy about their designs, but I really like their location, close to Costco and Centrum Plaza, and easy access to 417. I am not even worried about the waste disposal dump, since it's on the other side of Carp road, and I believe in Canadian living standards (there must be a reason to allow houses this close to a dump site). The only thing that concerns me most is the lack of schools, as it's a new community..
 
how to find elemetry school is good or no-so-good?

MATTAMY 是个比MINTO 还糟的地产商。 它的特点是(1) 大房子造在特小的地上, 两栋大房子的间距只有1。50米,而且后院很短, 基本上是刚好达到OTTAWA市政厅规定的最低标准。 (2) 建筑材料也是选用最低标准。 我有个亲戚在市政厅的BUILDING PERMIT部门工作, 曾听她评论过。

买房的朋友要小心, 不能只看MODEL HOME, 要研究你的LOT, FUNDATION LINE 到 PROPERTY LINE 的间距, 房子四周的建筑, 公路, 未来规划, 房子的保温材料/管道材料/房顶材料/窗户材料/钢筋材料 等。

Good question! There are indeed rumors about this so called radon gas haunting the region here, the community in question, Morgan's Grant in Kanata North.

I too was in your position of anxiety and puzzle when looking for house in this community. But after all the researches I could pull from all sources, I realized my worries were just overkill:

- There exists this radon gas everywhere in Ottawa, in fact, in every continent on this planet, so long there's rocks and minerals. The gas exists in rocky areas because it is released mainly from granites, marbles and such

- Kanata sits on a rocky segment, you can tell by looking at the excavations around the are. For that reason, people think that it may have higher concentration of radon gas. That's not true, radon gas level is house dependent, not region! just because your house has high level of radon gas does not mean that your neighbors have too!

- if radon gas concentration is too high in the area, why hasn't the city had a such case so far? I had the house have a radon gas test done before moving in, and the lab that runs the test told me that of the 20 years they've been performing the analysis, they have never seen a case where the level was above average, not a single house in the entire national capital region.

If you still have questions or concerns about radon gas, let me know as I've done extensive researches on the subject and may be of help to you.

非常滑稽, 有-人(Real Estate Agent)在这里老王卖瓜, 自卖自夸, 还没这个资历吧. 还是脸皮不要太厚了!!!!

I bought a house in Mattew this fall because I really like one model there. I did some research the recommendation and evaluation for this builder is not so bad.
