Job Search Workshops:
As part of the Local Agencies Serving Immigrants (LASI) consortium, JFS offers job search workshops through the World Skills Employment program. These 3-day workshops are offered at JFS once a month, and there is no charge to attend. The only eligibility requirement is that the participant be a newcomer to Canada (5 years or less, landed immigrant, or convention refugee).
The workshop provides comprehensive job search training that is designed specifically for newcomers.
Topics include:
Techniques for contacting employers Sources of job leads
Understanding worker's rights
Successful interview techniques
Effective resume and cover letter writing techniques
The following is a list of upcoming Job Search Workshop dates for 2006. All workshops take place at 2255 Carling Avenue, Suite 301. For more information on workshops taking place elsewhere, visit www.ottawa-worldskills.org
