1, ultrasound result might be wrong. If your doctor agree, ask him arrange another ultrosound and let another technitian do it.
2, even your baby is low birth weight, it does not mean anything wrong.
3, there's no use to worry. Relax.

Should be alright. There's a chart published by Canadian government with statistics of fetal weight and length against the conception week. Did the doctor compare the weight to the chart?

My ob always said my son was too light after about 37 weeks....he said he was so light that his weight was right on the 0% line in the chart. Basically it means that less than 1% of Canadian will have a baby at such weight during that number of week.

Thus, the ob induced the labour at the week that it's going to fall below the 0% line. I breastfed my son, and he had gained weight very well ever since. He's 16mo now and he's quite a big boy compared to other kids.

From early on in pregnancy, babies grow at different rates, so these numbers are merely averages. Your baby's actual length and weight may vary substantially. Don't worry too much if an ultrasound indicates that your baby is much smaller or larger. (Your practitioner will let you know if it's time to worry about how big your baby is.) By full-term, your baby may end up weighing less than 5 pounds or more than 9. Note that, for the purposes of this chart, babies are measured from the crown (or top) of the head to the rump (or bottom) until about 20 weeks. After that, they're measured from head to toe. (This is because a baby's legs are curled up against his torso during the first half of pregnancy and very hard to measure.) .
