Recruiting Volunteers/Communication Officers for
International Conference "Transnational Corporations
and Canada-China FDI: Opportunities and Challenges"
(May 17 - 20, 2007, Ottawa, Canada)
To Whom It May Concern,
On behalf of the Seminar Secretariat, we are looking for volunteers/communication officers for the International Conference on "Transnational Corporations and Canada-China FDI: Opportunities and Challenges" to be held in Ottawa in May 2007. (Official site: http://seminar.tnconline.org)
Background:
The integration of China into the world economy has been profoundly changing the global political and economic structure, which has been posing many short-term challenges, while offering tremendous investment and trade opportunities and increasing demands for dialogues and cooperation between policy-makers and academia for both China and Canada. The conference is designed to establish a platform for elites in this field to share their knowledge, experiences and address their concerns to pave a way of promoting bilateral investments, and intergovernmental dialogues and cooperation.
While trade and investments are engaged in intense competition worldwide, TNCs and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) have been at the center of global value chains in almost every economy. Our conference will focus on the respective roles of governments and TNCs in social and economic development, with special emphasis on the current and future prosperity, opportunities, and challenges, facing China, Canada, and TNCs today.
The Conference in Ottawa on China's Inward and Outward FDI: Opportunities and Challenges for Canada, co-organized by TNCONLINE, an Ottawa-based research team focusing on TNCs and China, and the Center for Multinationals' Studies in China's Nankai University under the Ministry of Education. The Conference Secretariat is now working with the Chinese Business Chamber of Canada, Canada Ottawa United Learning Academy and China's Association for Small and Medium Commerce Enterprises (CASMEs). Mr. Li Zibin, CASMEs' President, and Former Vice-Minister, People's Republic of China's National Development and Reform Commission, would be one of the potential keynote speakers for the Conference.
We believe that the conference preparation and organization offers unprecedented opportunities for young talents in fostering cohesive working relationships between scholars, officials and entrepreneurs. We will also ensure a lively exchange of ideas with a diverse audience in this field and creative practices in public communications and establishing marketing strategies.
The Conference agenda, registration details and other related information are available at www.tnconline.org. We hope that you will be able to participate in this great event.
Your kind comments or advice on this event would be very much appreciated. If you should require further information, please feel free to contact us at lxu@tnconline.org or call us at 1 613 697 5188 or 613 220 4186
Best Regards
