1. you need to make sure that Canada allows the import of the model of your car. then you need to talk to the first lien holder of your car and negotiate a solution; otherwise, the custom(US side) won't let your car to leave(you need to have original title of your car). the Canada will charge you about 200 dollar for import the car and get the car registered in the country(if you are a settler).
2. not necessary. How to get to the money is a different story.
3. different people has different opinion. I bank with TD.
4. you can open US dollar account with Canadian bank. If your bank sell US dollar to your bank using the market price(you can check the exchange rate each day online.) Never buy Canadian dollar at airport or hotel. I think even Credit card is cheaper than airport. check your credit card issuer and find out how much it charges for conversion. Citi charges 3%.
5. you need to exchange your driver license. Ask for an experience letter from DMV from your state. If you have more than 2 years of driving experience, you can pay 75 dollar at Ontario to receive a new G license.
6. ask for insurance letter from your insurance company. This really helps when you are buying insurance in Canada.
