Reporting to the Manager, Network Systems your primary responsibilities will include:
Deployment, implementation, installation and support of all Linux-based software and computing systems in a Microsoft Active Directory Environment
Day to day administration of the Linux environment including user management, security access control, troubleshooting and issue resolution
Monitoring and performance tuning of the Linux operating system, and storage subsystems
Reviewing existing backup and recovery strategies, recommending and implementing enhanced backup, archive and recovery methods where appropriate
Supporting and producing clear documentation for end-users and other technical professionals
Writing shell scripts and compiling Linux kernels
Evaluating and recommending technical solutions, explaining benefits and consequences
Database support and administration when required (PostgreSQL, MySQL)
Acting as a partner to the Network Administrator and providing backup when required
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years experience in Linux System Administration. Experience in an MS Active Directory Environment supporting Windows is an asset. You are familiar with C, TCL and Java development platforms and you have a thorough knowledge of TCP/IP networking.
