以支付父母看护费用的方式抵税可以吗?

听一个来加老人说,父母来加拿大探亲,可以以支付父母看护小孩儿费用的方式来抵减税额?是真的吗?

said many times: if they are older than 65 and live with you pass 183 days in that calendar year, you can claim "care giver" amount. Search "183 rule" or "deemed resident" on CRA website for more info.

必须是移民,并且有SIN号码的

no, not at all
thanks for the info. :)

one more question: will that trigger another trouble when you are applying to extend their stay? Somebody told me that it is highly possible to be rejected if CIC found out the purpose of your parent here is looking after your kid.

It has nothing to do with your kids. You claim "care giver" amount only because you support your parents living with you and their incoming is less than certain amount. Nowhere the kids should be mentioned. It is not like immigranted parents (you pay them to look after your child).

Your info here is very helpful, thank you very much!

A silly question. 请问183天是否一定指的是每个calendar year?比如说如果是下半年来的,第二年上半年离开,总时间可能超过183天,但算到每个calendar year都不到,这样是不是不能claim?

As my understanding is: Yes, has to be in the calendar year.

I didn't see there is any docs which supports what global mentioned here.

Hi guys,
As I know, the parenets whom you are going to declare the tax return as care giver should have SIN and this is what I was told before by some 会计师. No sure what kind of information global gets from.

Thanks

If you have a SIN, then you don't need follow "183 rule". '183 rule" is for foreigner who don't need a SIN. Once they live in Canada exceed 183 days in one year, they are considered as "deemed resident". Search CRA website for related info. The information I got is from my personal experience of fighting with CRA. You may get rejected if you claim that amount as not many CRA agent know this. However, if you fight for yourself, you can get it for sure. Done this several times already.
