Discuss why short lived radioactive isotopes pose a serious danger to humans who are directly exposed to them, but are not considered a problem for long term disposal, while very long lived radioactive isotopes are much less harmful to those directly exposed to them, but are considered a serious problem for long term disposal.

(NOTE:Be sure to discuss both aspects: why one is more harmful in the short term than the other and why one is more problematic in the long term than the other.)

assume in infinite years they emit the same amount of power via alpha beta and gamma waves

short lived isotope's radioactive intensity is much higher = more threat to human, but over long period of time it dies down fast and therefore is easier to dispose

long term isotope = low intensity = low threat, but constant radioactive emitting and is a pain in the a$$ to get rid of (shielding etc).

just my guesses
