Please help:

I am required to have security clearance of Level II-Secret for government job.
Unitl now I have been in Canada for 5 Yrs.

Can I pass the secuirty clearance screening ? Because I know Level 2 needs 10 yrs background checking.

Who has the similar expereince , Please share !!!!!!!

your last 10 yrs need to be traceable (ie, in eorupe, japan, North Amer, singapore, etc)

Before I came here, I was in PR China, not in any other countries. I know Chana does not have any agreement with Canada.

Just a minutes ago, HR told me I don't need to worry. I am not sure it's that true.

Does anyone here having the Level II security clearance? How many years do you stay in Canada before passing Level II security clearance?

I don't know too much about this topic, but according to what I had heard from one of my former colleagues who was in a similar situation, the problem is not that one must have stayed in Canada for at least 10 years, but that Canada has no way of conducting security investigation in China due to lack of agreement between the two countries. In other words, if you were in the states, for example, during the previous 5-year period before coming to Canada, this should not be an issue.

This is hardly the help you are looking for, my apologies. Hope everything goes well.

Yes you have to wait. I had the similar situation, then my company hold my application until I stayed long enough. Then you have to wait another 2 years to get your clearance cert. (yes, we waited that long. Some of us still haven't got anything back even though they were born here. Immigrants waited longer since they had to trace back.) Good luck.

Just consulted commissionaires ottawa,

for serect(I,II,III) clearance, need at least in canada for 10 years, and must be canadian citizen, landed immigrant cannot apply.

for enhanced reliablilty, must be in canada for the past 5 conseuctives years for landed immigrant. at least 5 years for citizen.

Also know that, each department has their own guildline and those above is just under normal circumstances.

Good luck!

Should be OK. I have a friend working at a government job (permanent employee) now. Her position requires a Level II-Secret security clearance. She has been in Canada for only 6 years and she passed the security check and got the position.

Don't worry and good luck!

Can I pass the secuirty clearance screening ?

You should be able to pass. No worry. However, this may take weeks or months.

Here are examples of a personal case:

- Passed enhanced level secuirty clearance 2 years after arrival in Canada (was permanent resident at that time).

- Passed secret level (II) secuirty clearance 6 months ago (6 years after arrival in Canada, Canadian citizen). Took a few days to complete the forms and received the notice in about 1 month. Faster than expected since has been told that may need to wait for up to 6 months (probably because of working on a high priority file).

Hope this helps.

应该是你的可能雇主认为你初选合格,才会把你送去做sc吧
他们既然这么认为,应该还是有一定把握吧
