Does anyone here hire babysitters, or any of your kids babysitting others? what's the going rate now per hour?

BTW, I am looking for one for 1-2 hrs Friday and/or weekend in Morgan's Grant, to look after a 3.5 year old. Please help spread the news...:-) Thanks.

I think the going rate is $5-$12/hr depending on the age and the qualification. That rate varies from teenager with babysitter course certificate to adult with ECE certificate.

I received some replies when I posted it in an English forum. I'll PPM u some contact.

Much appreciated kliu!

To parents in the neighborhood, if you are looking for quality time alone without kids like us (to do sports, go to movies or have a nice dinner/date..), perhaps we can work the shift out mutually so that each family can benefit their own prime time, what do you say?!?!

I thought about that, like sharing babysitter with neighbours, but was quite worried by liability. Like in case if any kid gets injured in accident.

I hear you kliu. Maybe my daughter is old enough (3.5 yrs) that I am not worried as much, besides, I know she'll be safe staying at home. She gets bumps and bruises occasionally from her homecare provider, but we are not concerned, that's just part of their growth! Of course accidents happen all the time, and the least we can do is to make sure to provide as safe and healthy environment for them as possible...:-D

Right, but not many parents have that level of understanding, so I doubt about the idea of having neighours' children to be cared in one family's house. If any of the children gets injured, the other parents could go after the house owner.

Maybe I'm just overly paranoid. When we intended to hire a babysitter, I talked to our insurance company, and they mentioned that we should add a clause in our policy, so that in case accident happens, the policy is still valid. (ie. like babysitter gets injured, damage to the house caused by babysitter etc..)
