Go to Algonquin College, there is a shop which
repairs IBM thinkpad. I brought mine there
a few weeks ago. The check fee about $40.
They will give you the reason and a price for repair. It is a place where IBM assigned for repair. The name is called something like
Advanced Technology Center Shop. The motherboard of my computer was dead. They wanted to charge me over $800. It is not worthy of it. I paid only $40 and threw my computer away.

Following is the email they sent to me.
You can ship or bring your laptop to us; there will be a $25.00 charge
on all units in for diagnostic service. Our repairs engineer will call
or email you with an estimate of total repair price of parts labor and
return shipping charge. Ottawa / Hull customer: please call our tech
center if you need courier & Delivery.
Most Repairs Under $100 (Included diagnostic $25 and Labors Repairs)
We will get back to you with Laptop / Notebook Repair
Charges once you confirm your service order. If you're actual Laptop
Repair/Notebook Repair Charges varies from Estimated Charges. We will
contact you with any change in service charges. We will not start
repairing until we get your consent for new repair charges. Once your
order is complete a repairs engineer will give you call to arrange
payment & shipment. You will be able to pay your service order with
Major Credit Cards such as: Visa/ Master/ or Paypal Or Debit Card
(With Visa & Master Logo). Once your payment has cleared an engineer
will schedule shipment with insurance.
