Seven men held after weekend stabbings
Seven men remained in police custody last night following an early morning double stabbing at a city karaoke club.
Police were called to the Ottawa Hospital Civic campus around 4:30 a.m. yesterday after a group of young men brought in two men who were suffering from multiple stab wounds.
A 22 year-old man had suffered six stab wounds to his back and ribs while the other, a 23-year old man, had been stabbed four times in the stomach.
The injuries to the men were not considered life threatening Police detained the seven men, all in their 20s, who delivered the victims to the hospital. Police said yesterday those men were being uncooperative with investigators and the victims are not co-operating either.
Police say the stabbings occurred at the K King Lounge Karaoke Bar at 1558 Merivale Rd., across the street from the Emerald Plaza.
Police searched the karaoke bar yesterday, and found blood inside and outside the building, but did not recover a weapon.
The incident is not believed to be drug- or gang-related. No charges have been laid.
