Second Thought of Subura

I saw many friends trying to get Subura from US. I have have some different thought on this type car:

1. Price drops very quickly comparing to other cars. The same speed as US car. I asked my canadian friend, the reason is that this car is special designed for US and the goal of design is around 5 to 6 years for major parts like transmission. In case you are unlucky, then. So resale is hard than other Japan cars. (US ususally change cars in 5 years term).

2. Parts are very very expensive, soon or later, you will feel that for a small repair. Think about $800 for muffler then you get idea. The reason is the same because of special design for US market.

3. The maintanance of Subura AWD is such special because non common design, I have a CIVIC SUV, it is much better.

4. Most of them have common problem after 5 years like engine oil leak and transmission, you will be ready for 8000 to 9000 to fix at that time or sell that. That's the exactly I get.

I heard this brand has improved a lot laterly and the newer Subarus are quite solid. Hope your arguments were not valid any more because I just got mine not long ago.. Only time can tell though

Hope they did. However I don't want to try it anymore, fortunately, I traded in my one recently.

From what I learned, is the meaning of focus on the US market (Subaru designed for north US only), that means 5 years term. That's why many US cars get troubles right after grantee. That's also the reason why this car is still a lower class car in US. It faces a very tough competition because all other makers now has their own SUV flag and adapt common standard 4WD design.

Anyway, just share some experience, hope to get your feedback after 5 years grantee.
