Ladies, Teach Your Man How To Dress
Ladies, let us take a moment to discuss something I know is on all our minds. It is virtually impossible to ignore. We are confronted on a daily basis with men of all shapes, sizes, and ages who literally seem to know nothing, nor do they care about what they are wearing. Now I ask you, does this travesty seem right to you?
Women, in general, are predisposed to having some kind of fashion sense. It is our prerogative in life to dress well and mimic the models from those fashion magazines we covet. I don't know about any of you, but it bothers me that men, as a general rule, do not understand the fundamentals of a good outfit. If we as a gender are expected to pay attention to our attire and how we look to impress the men in our lives, then ladies, do not accept anything less from the boys.
It is possible that a helping hand is needed to achieve fashion harmony, so take a look at some of these helpful hints to dress your man for success.
Size
This is probably the most important piece of advice I can give to any woman looking to improve a man's style. Gentlemen, wear clothes that fit! Women do not walk around wearing jeans that are four sizes too big, with a shirt on that could be a dress, so what makes that okay for men? Fashionistas, do not accept this as a
style, it is pure and simple laziness and cannot be tolerated anymore.
Jeans and pants should be loose enough for comfort but the crotch should be nowhere near his knees. Of course, there should be a noticeable derriere in the proper place. Shirts should, again, be a comfortable fit, but should fall just below the belt line so they can be tucked if necessary and should show that he has a body. Unless he is in the comfort of his own home, he should never be swimming in anything but a pool.
Footwear Co-ordination
This is a common problem for both men and women. You may be wearing the most perfect outfit , your hair is done, and you're ready to go, and then you step into some raggedy pair of running shoes!? I don't think so!
I cannot stress enough how important good footwear is. Seriously, shoes can make or break an entire outfit. Men are cursed with a small selection of good, affordable shoes, but fortunately there are stores out there who care. Aldo, which every woman should already know and love, is a great place for men to find designer styles, at affordable prices. And there are many other chain stores and independent stores that serve men for this purpose.
Trust me, it is definitely something to invest your money in. (Women note — what is the sexiest summer footwear you could possibly give your man? Flip-flops — buy them, love them.)
Pattern
Men often get trapped thinking that they can, or should only wear solid colors. Although I'm not suggesting they race out to their nearest co-op and stock up on plaid shirts, a certain amount of pattern gives men a little more creative power. While a button up or polo over jeans is fabulous, putting a sweater with a geometric, colorful pattern on over top just adds that extra oomph needed to complete a sexy style.
Women, look to designers like Missoni for inspiration on how to find pieces that are both fun and functional for your guy.
Style
With good men's fashion comes a certain amount of bravery. Men need to know that looking good does not necessarily have to transfer into them looking like a girl. Men often assume that by paying attention to the way they look, tapping into their metrosexual side, makes them less of a man. This is a common misconception and one that must be nipped in the bud.
It is okay for men to experiment with their clothing choices. Pairing a collared shirt with a vest is a hot look right now for men, so next time you take your man shopping, casually mention a style you've been dying to see him in and you may just be pleasantly surprised.
Also — and this is huge — men can wear pink! When done correctly this is a hot, and very manly color - trust me, nothing is sexier than a man confident enough in his own sexuality to don a pink polo with the collar popped and some aviators. I know, I know, just take a moment and breathe ladies.

the road to fashion self-discovery
Overall, men should be able to enjoy fashion just as much as women without the stigma they attach to it. Ladies, don't be afraid to tell your man when he looks good and when he doesn't. You are helping, not hindering his progress and he needs to know when to ask for help. I believe many men lose track of the fact that women find almost nothing sexier than a well-dressed man — why do you think women swoon over men in suits?
So don't let the man in your life go one more minute wearing those beat up duds lying on the floor of their room. Dressing well is no longer limited to dressing up. Men can and must begin the long road to fashion self-discovery. And ladies, it is up to you to be their guide.
