Playstation 3 Price Drops and Deals

Welcome to RFD news. Today, our main story is an ongoing investigation of a very loud shout of "About time!" heard across Canada. It turns out this was in response to price drops for Sony's Playstation 3 console. It is expected that the 80GB model will settle near $500, the 60GB model somewhere around $450-$480, and the 40GB model at $400. While an official announcement has not yet been made, multiple retailers have dropped prices on various models.

FutureShop.ca currently has the best deal on the 80GB model:

• 60GB Model for $479 Sold out, but Best Buy now has this model for less, see below (this is only version with full Playstation 1 & 2 compatibility as it has internal PS2 hardware)80GB Model with Motorstorm and Lair for $499.99

Best Buy isn't out of the picture either with confirmed availability of the 60GB version for $449.99:

• 80GB Model with Motorstorm for $499.99
• 60GB Model for $449.99

Dell.ca now has a very good package for the 80GB model with 2 Sixaxis controllers (regular price for 1 is about $60) and another package with NHL 2008:

• 80GB Model with Motorstorm, 2 Sixaxis controllers and free shipping for $529
• 80GB Model (1 controller) with Motorstorm, NHL '08, and free shipping for $529

Toys R Us and EB Games also reportedly have the 80GB model for $499.99 and 60GB model for $449.99.
