大家 好 ，新装了 ubuntu7,10但不知怎么 使用 Desktop Cube. google 半天 没看懂 。希望 高人 指教 ，谢谢！

I tried it and did not find it very interesting. In order to use it, right click your mouse and choose "Change desktop background".
In the pop-up Window, go to the tab "Visual Effect" and select "Custom" and then click preference. In Preference settings you
can do all kinds of settings for special effects. Precondition for using these special effects is that you
need to turn the driver of your video card on by clicking System->Administration->Restricted Driver Manager. If it is not
in use, it will be slow to have these effects. You can switch your desks to see the effects.

Standard 7.10 even does not include gcc and OpenGL glut. You can install
them by using sudo apt-get install.

come on! Ubuntu is not workstation, I think it is for desktop user not for developers. That is why only one cd.

now more and more desktop users can use it, right? It is not so hard anymore.
actually Ubuntu is new distribution I don't think too many developers use it.

Use the following command to install them
sudo apt-get install g++ gcc
Your password is needed for sudo

or click system=>Synaptic Package Manager
in pop-up window click search and type in gcc . You can
find all related packages
