渥太华-卡尔顿公立教育局在渥太华四所小学里设立了“父母之道及家庭识字中心”(Parenting and Family Literacy Centres）。中心由学校的工作人员主持。家长和0-6岁的孩子共同参加。

[FONT=新細明體]The Parenting and Family Literacy Centres have a number of key goals including:[/FONT]
父母之道及家庭识字中心旨在：

• [FONT=新細明體]Providing optimal child development through positive parent-child interaction;[/FONT]
• 通过父母和孩子的积极互动，让孩子向有利的方向发展。
• [FONT=新細明體]Offering a family literacy program that develops early literacy and numeracy skills to prepare children for school;[/FONT]
• 提供家庭识字教学，开发孩子学前早期的认字识数潜能。
• [FONT=新細明體]Increasing parents’ knowledge, involvement and comfort level with schools;[/FONT]
• 提高家长的知识面和参与意识，增强家长与学校的亲切感。
• [FONT=新細明體]Helping children transition more easily into Kindergarten by allowing Centre staff and kindergarten teachers to work together;[/FONT]
