When you purchase one of the new XO laptops for a child in a developing nation, you can get another one for the child in your life without cost. If you have an income or residence in the U.S. you'll also get a tax receipt for half of your purchase. The price of a laptop donation is $399 US - for that price, until November 26 you will not only give one, but get one too.

Here's a little bit about the XO laptop, which was developed specifically to enhance the education and quality of life of children in developing nations:

"The XO laptop runs on Linux, a free and open-source operating system. The XO laptop features a sealed, rubberized keyboard that was built specifically for harsh weather conditions, making it resilient to water, dust, and dirt. It’s scaled to accommodate child-sized hands and has a lighter touch than normal keyboards. The XO laptop has built-in functionality for still and video photography, voice recording, and game playing. The XO laptop is the size of a textbook and weighs about three pounds. Thanks to its flexible design and “transformer" hinge, it can easily configure from a standard laptop to an e-book reader and a hand-held video game player. Right out of the box, the XO laptop’s antennae ears can sense other neighboring XO laptops and connect to them, creating an instantaneous “mesh” network for communal sharing and collaborating. In some models, it also uses a crank to power up. In short, it's really cool and really valuable.

This is the first time the revolutionary XO laptop has been made available to the general public."

UPDATE: This offer has been extended until December 31.
