问大家一个奇怪的事情

我一个朋友在2004年到2005年间在温哥华的哥伦比亚大学做访问学者，他说他走的时候清理了所有的税。但是今年1月他接连接到两封来自税务局的新叫他填2006年的T1表，第一封信他没理，第二封信说如果一月底不邮寄回表格，就罚款。给的联系电话和地址是渥太华的。他觉得挺奇怪的，他都离开好几年了怎么还叫他填T1表，他在加拿大没有任何投资和存款之类的。大家知道这是怎么回事情吗？谢谢知道的朋友告诉你一下

Normally there is phone number in the letter. You friend can call Revenue Canada to ask about what is going on. He should never ignore the letters from Revenue Canada. If he owes money, he needs to pay it back(plus interest)

the Revenue Canada is just working on their routine. Your friend's file might not be updated, they assume that he is in Canada. So, your friend need to call and inform them that he left in 2005.
