Dear International Student
As the temperatures start to warm up the sap begins to run in the Maple trees producing a sweet sugary liquid. This was the source of sugar for the early settlers to this country. How was it collected? What does it taste like? How did the first Canadian immigrants live here and survive?

Come and have a 'unique Canadian experience' as we visit a Maple Sugar farm

Saturday March 1st 12:00 to 6:00PM

This event includes an explanation of the collection and the processing of this liquid to make maple syrup and maple candy.
There will also be a wagon ride, a sample taste of snow toffee, a tour of a pioneer farm house and barn with animals, supper and games.

Come, bring your friends, and make new friends.

The cost for the days activity will be 6.00$ per person. Children under 2 Years enter for free.

Dress warmly, with scarf, mits, hat, boots etc. There may be deep snow so wear proper boots for snow. (not running shoes.)

Pickup will be

at University of Ottawa in the Unicenter lower level by the door beside the Alumni Auditorium at 12 noon.

or

At Carleton University inside the front door of the Minto center at 12 noon

E-Mail us at FAW@primus.caand let us know if you plan to come and at which pick up you will be.

If you have friends coming, if possible, have them send us their name and e-mail. It is easier for us to make an accurate count this way.

This event is sponsored by 'Friends Around the World'
which is a part of the national organization called 'International Student ministries Canada' working in other Universities across Canada

See our webpage www.ismc.ca/ottawa

Our desire is to help you to feel welcome in Canada, introduce you to some of the UNIQUE cultural events of this country and help you to make friends and enjoy your time here.
