Funded by CIC (Citizenship and Immigration Canada) and managed by OCASI (the Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants), Settlement.Org – www.settlement.org/index.asp - provides newcomers with information they can trust to help them settle in Ontario.
To help in the settlement process OCASI delivers Settlement.Org orientation sessions to newcomers and service providers across the province. The sessions are meant to inform the participants about the various programs, services, resources and general assistance available to them online and in their community. These sessions are also an excellent way for newcomers to provide us with feedback on any gaps in information on the website while gaining access to resources that provides them with relevant, comprehensive, up-to-date and reliable information.
What participants can learn from the session includes but not limited to:
- How to find information about getting back into a profession or trade
- How to access settlement agencies that can help
- How to access Community Health Centres
- How parents can get involved in their children’s schooling
- How to start job search
- How Settlement.Org can help to improve English language skills
- How to access Guides available in different languages
- How to use the Discussion Area to ask settlement related questions and to share experiences with fellow newcomers, and more!
