I wrote this checklist in preparation for my upcoming trip to China, feel free to share.
Travelling with an Infant
Air Canada
Baby can have one checked luggage, same as adult 23 KG. You are also allowed to bring an umbrella style stroller on board the aircraft. If you have purchased a seat for your baby, you can also bring a Transport Canada approved car seat on board the aircraft.
Bottom line:
· 1 free checked luggage per infant (23kg maximum)
· 1 free light-weighted stroller that will fit either on overhead cabin or under the seat in front of you
· 1 free carry-on luggage (10kg maximum, usually backpack sized)
· large stroller = checked luggage
· car seat without a purchased seat = checked luggage
NB: Reserve the bassinet (sometimes called a sky cot), baby food or meal preference ahead of time, your travel agent can do that for you. You also should confirm luggage allowance with the airline before departure.
Checklist before Departure
¨ Immunization is up to date. Consult a travel clinic doctor for travel vaccination specific to the country of destination.
¨ Passport is valid and is at least 6 months from expiration
¨ Valid visa if required
¨ Airline ticket confirmed with exact name as appearing in passport
¨ Print and sign consent letter by both parents, leave one copy at home
¨ Photocopy passport, visa, certificate of live birth, airline tickets and travel itinerary, leave one copy of each document at home
Packing List (used during flight and in transit)
¨ Diapers + Wipes + Change pad
¨ 2-3 Receiving blankets for various use
¨ 1-2 thick blanket during sleep
¨ 5 plastic bags to store soiled diapers and clothes
¨ Hand sanitizer
¨ Tissues
¨ 1-2 face cloth
¨ 1-2 change of clothes
¨ 2-3 Bibs
¨ Feeding utensils if your baby is on solid food
¨ Favorite toys, books, CDs or DVDs
¨ Empty baby bottles or sippy cup
¨ Baby formula if required, milk, water and juice are provided on the flight
¨ First aid kit (pain reliever or other supplies for minor injuries)
¨ Tooth brush + toothpaste
¨ Sling for baby carrier
¨ Light-weight stroller
¨ Car seat if you have purchased a seat for your baby
Packing List (used at destination)
¨ Diapers + wipes + change pad + diaper rash cream
¨ 1 week of change of clothes including but not limited to:
¨ Jacket
¨ Socks
¨ Sun hat
¨ Shoes
¨ Baby shampoo + lotion
¨ Insect repellent
¨ Sun protection cream
¨ Nail clipper
¨ Swim wear
¨ Swimming diapers
¨ Additional toys or books
Additional Items (as needed)
¨ Plastic zipper bags of various sizes (very handy!)
¨ Portable booster seat
¨ Portable playpen or bed
¨ Portable bathtub

I wouldn't recommend cold medication for infants since the last major recall of all cough syrups for children under age 2, more and more doctors have spoken out that there is no evidence that those cold medications actually do anything to speed up the healing process.
I only give my daughter children's Tylenol or Advil, and let her fight the cold off on her own.

一般感冒，宝宝是不建议吃感冒药，但是如果宝宝鼻塞很厉害，吃奶的时候很费劲。就像我女儿6个月时感冒发烧鼻塞，鼻涕很多，吃奶简直很痛苦。所以医生就给了Dimetapp的感冒药。
