Dear Mr. XXXX,
A deadly earthquake measured 7.9 Richter scale suddenly struck Sichuan Province, China on May 12th, 2008 at 2:28 p.m. local time. More than 19,509 people have lost their lives and the number is still rising as tens of thousands more are still buried under collapsed buildings.
Immediately after the quake, Australia, US, Germany, France and other nations all expressed deep concerns and offering aids to China for those affected areas. We did not see Canada on the list of nations helping China. Chinese Canadians in Canada especially worried about the condition in China and we are trying everything we can to help because many have family and friends live in Sichuan Province, our hearts go to the people suffered, especially the kids from this major disaster.
Canada has a very positive image among the Chinese in Mainland China. Everyone in China knows the famous Canadian, Dr. Norman Bethune, who had saved numerous Chinese lives at the prices of his own in World War II. There is a very famous medical university, Bethune Medical University named after Dr. Bethune in Northeast China. I am writing this letter to urge the government of Canada, to take actions helping China. We wish a stronger friendship and relations between the two nations.
