UPDATE: Registration has started, and the best activities are liable to fill up fast, so head on over and sign up if you haven't already!
If you're in the GTA, you should definitely check out KidSummer, sponsored by Today's Parent. They've got a fantastic list of activities, seven days a week for all of July and August. Many events are free; some require pre-registration and there's a limit of three events per child. We liked the sounds of Cooking with Kids: Pizza Factory at the Queens Quay Loblaws on July 4. They'll let your kid (ages 5-12) make a pizza of any shape with their choice of toppings and then occupy them with making fruit kebabs while the pizzas bake. And it's free! There's also a tour of Rogers TV on July 15, where kids ages 4-10 can operate studio cameras, be interviewed on TV and take home terrific souvenirs. And...it's free! Like we said, there are similar activities for all of July and August, seven days a week. Most require pre-registration. The registration fee is $10 per child (but then there is no additional charge on top of that for many of the activities) and we imagine the slots will fill up quickly. Registration starts Saturday, June 14, so we recommend picking your three favourite activities now so you're all set to register at the end of the week.
