There will be 4 parts in the workshop
In Part 1, about information handling in the enterprise, focusing on the following points:
- information is the most important asset of an enterprise;
- personal information, privacy and injury
- two important Acts: The Privacy Act and the Access to Information Act
- Policy that governs information in the government: Government Security Policy
The idea is to just introduce these terms because it is very possible that in an interview for a government job, an interviewer may ask what is the Privacy Act, or what can you tell me about the Access to Information Act? So they should be aware of these documents.
In Part 2, how network zones can help to protect information. various ways information is accessed within a company, for example, employees at their desk, employees traveling, employees working from home, consultants, partners etc. The idea it to present a picture of how varied and complex the access patterns can be. the basic network zones and their purpose,the role of firewalls.
In Part 3, the most common protocols that they would find on the job. define a protocol, the use of ports and HTTP, FTP, SMTP etc.
Finally, in Part 4, some of the problems that zones create for IT people. This will be of interest to developers and database people. It will be the most technical but it will be brief and at a high level.

Firewalls: Cisco Pix, Symantec Raptor and VelociRaptor, Check Point NGX R61
Protocols: TCP\IP, HTTP\S, SSL, DNS, FTP, ICMP, SMTP, SNMP, TELNET, SSH, NTP, NETBIOS, LDAP, SYSLOG and others.
