个人认为不值.当家中无人, 发生入室抢劫时, 保安公司只是替你报警, 警察来立个案,仅此而已. 真正把损失拿回来还得靠房屋财产保险!

I think Security Service is not for protecting your property. It is for your own safety. If you live in a neighborhood is not that safe or you are a single woman. When Security alarm is on, bad guy know it only take few minutes for police or security company to find out what happen. It is usually enough to scare them away.

I did a bit research on line and found there are security system being sold on the internet (search alarm system on ebay). They are about 200 dollars with everything you need. The best part of this system is the control panel has auto dialing feature. When something happened, either fire or somebody breaking in your house, the system will automatically dial out to your preset numbers.

Think about this. You pay 20 dollars to the security companies. You simply let the system to call the company instead of yourself. The company when received the call will need to call you to confirm the actions to take. So you need to take the call anyway. Why bother having the company in between and ripping you off?

I'm sure this is a big rip off that not many people have realised yet.

That system wouldn't work for robbery.

What good can a center-monitored system do in case of robery? They can call 911, right? But this system can dial 911 too. There are also panic buttons that can scare people away and at the same time alert your neighbors. What I'm saying is it can do almost the same as the paid monitored system and it can be counted to lower the insurance premium.
