Lecturer/Senior Lecturer
£37,266 to £49,613 per annum
The Safety and Accident Investigation Centre at Cranfield University is looking for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer with expertise in safety and/or accident investigation to join its growing team. The Centre is located within the Department of Air Transport, which is recognised throughout the world for high-quality, industry-relevant teaching, research and consultancy.
The Centre offers an extensive range of Continuing Professional Development courses from one to thirty days in length, and two part-time MSc courses in Airworthiness and Safety & Accident Investigation. It also provides teaching for other Cranfield MSc programmes including Air Transport Management; Airport Planning & Management; Aerospace Vehicle Design; Ergonomics and Human Factors and Safety Assessment in Aeronautics. These are complemented by a thriving PhD programme and the ability to deliver high-quality, short and longer timescale research and consultancy for industry.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone to join a vibrant team to teach at the postgraduate level and supervise Masters/PhD students, as well as making a significant contribution to the wide-ranging research and consulting activities of the Centre. Holding a relevant higher degree or equivalent relevant industrial experience, you must be able to demonstrate the ability to work independently and within a dynamic team, and to deliver high quality presentations and papers/reports. The appointment will either be at Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level depending upon expertise and capabilities, and as such, previous teaching experience is essential.
We are especially interested in appointing someone with expertise in incident/accident investigation. Knowledge of air transport is also important, however, applications from candidates with experience in applying safety investigation methods within other modes of transport would also be welcome.
