Our daughter (18 month old) is attending the Glebe Reggio Centre (at 109A Fourth Ave, Bank Street and Fourth Avenue). It works on the basis of the Reggio educational philosophy and is especially suitable for gifted children or children with special needs. The centre still has some space available for toddlers and pre-schoolers.
It is a little more expensive but it is worth it. The staff is excellent, very professional and very caring. Our daughter even has a notebook and teachers write a one-page note on it everyday to let us know what they did at the daycare. Lots of activities, esp. music and art. One downside is that we have to pack lunch for her everyday since the centre does not provide lunch (but on the up side we would know exactly what she ate). We are very happy with the centre and would like to recommend it to parents who are looking for daycare. I have copied some info from the Centre below. Have a look of their website, too, Glebe Reggio Centre, or book a visit. Check it out!
WELCOME TO THE GLEBE REGGIO CENTRE
CHILDREN ARE SPECIAL AND EACH ONE UNIQUE. "THE JOURNEY OF A THOUSAND MILES BEGINS WITH THE FIRST STEP" IS THE MOTIVATION FOR THE REGGIO INSPIRED PROGRAM AT THE GLEBE REGGIO CENTRE. OUR COMMITMENT TO OUR FAMILIES IS TO PROVIDE A FUN AND BEAUTIFUL ENVIRONMENT WHICH STIMULATES LEARNING THROUGH CURIOSITY AND ENCOURAGES EVERY CHILD TO ACHIEVE HIS/HER MAXIMUM POTENTIAL.
We believe that the Reggio, child-centered approach to early childhood education, offers enormous advantages for intellectual and emotional development. This is perfect for promoting a confident, independent and polite personality. Children are encouraged along their natural development path, to flourish with self-esteem, respect for others, respect for the environment and to embrace the values and attitudes that define a good citizen.
Parents are an important part of our program and we encourage parent collaboration and active participation in our Parent Teachers Committee. All this is held together by caring educators who are dedicated to quality early childhood education.
Welcome to the Glebe Reggio Centre! We look forward to an exciting future together with you and your children!
