Looking for a Cantonese/Mandarin, Spanish and Arabic speaking female interviewer who would help us in our work of evaluating the Multilingual Ottawa Public Health Info line.
Criteria for selection: Interviewer (Mandarin/Cantonese, Spanish, Arabic)
· Have never been involved with the multilingual OPHIL as an interpreter
· Be female
· Be able to commit to the time frame (late October-early December with flexible schedule, est. 2 hours/interview including translation back to English)
· Have some social/health research experience either from involvement in previous studies or as a result of University graduate work
· Have an education/employment background in health, education, social work or related “human” field
· Willing to attend training session
· Have experience interviewing people over the telephone
· Be comfortable contacting and speaking with strangers
· Be comfortable and have a clear understanding of the job duties: recruitment of clients, interviewing, translating notes back to English in a word file (if digital tape recorders could be used to tape interviews and serve as a back-up, however, not all clients are comfortable being taped)
Note: Each interviewer is expected to contact clients between 10-20. Rate of payment to be determined. ($30-40 per hour????)
