Carleton University would like to remind students that all examinations will continue as scheduled despite the potential OC Transpo strike.

If you use OC Transpo, you can stay up-to-date by visiting the OC Transpo website at: http://octranspo.com. Please note Para Transpo service will continue as usual.

To help students get on campus during the potential strike, Carleton University and the Carleton University Students’ Association (CUSA) are partnering to offer shuttle bus service from the following locations:

- Bank Street and MacLeod Street bus stop – pick up every 30 minutes
- Merivale Mall (Merivale and Meadowlands)– pick up every 45 minutes
- Place d’Orleans – pick up every hour
- South Keys Mall – pick up every 30 minute

The above buses will run from 7:00 a.m. – 12 p.m. and 6:00-11:00 p.m., Monday to Saturday for the duration of exams in the event of an OC Transpo strike. Please note the posted times are approximate and there may be delays due to weather conditions and traffic. The shuttle service is available to Carleton students only and students must show their Campus Card as they board the bus.

More information, including location and schedule information, is available on the CUSA website at: CUSA Homepage.

The Carleton/uOttawa shuttle bus service will run during the weekdays and additional Saturday times will be added for the duration of the potential strike. For more information, including the most up-to-date timetable, please visit: Information Carleton - Shuttle Bus Service.

CUSA will also continue to offer a Ride Board for students interested in carpool options. For more details, phone 613-520-6688, email: admin@cusaonline.com or visit the website at: CUSA Ride Board.

For information about parking on campus, and other transportation options, please visit Parking Services.

Please refer back to the above websites, and the student site at New and Current Students - Carleton University, on a regular basis to note changes or updates.

Possible OC Transpo transit disruption starting on Wednesday, December 10, 2008

Please note that all exams will be held according to the original schedule despite the possibility of an OC Transpo strike that might disrupt transit services, including the O-Train, starting on Wednesday, December 10, 2008.

If you use OC Transpo, stay up to date on the situation by visiting the OC Transpo Web site[External site] www.octranspo.com/Main_MenuE.asp, by listening to regional news or by calling OC Transpo at 613-741-4390.

If the strike does take place, we encourage you to register with the University of Ottawa’s carpooling directory at www.uOttawaCarpool.ca. You can also consult the City of Ottawa’s carpooling database at www.OttawaRideMatch.com.

During both the exam period and the Christmas holidays (from December 5, 2008 to January 5, 2009 inclusively), daily parking will be available at the following locations at the special rate of $6: www.protection.uottawa.ca/en/transit_strike.html.

Note that Para Transpo service will continue as usual, strike or not.

OC Transpo, for its part, proposes the following transportation alternatives in case of a strike: [External site] www.octranspo.com/mapscheds/Contingency/Tips_for_getting_around.htm.
